Monthly Dances

We generally dance the second Saturday of every month, except July and August. (We take July off so our members can attend the annual convention of the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs (IAGSDC), and we take August off since it’s often too hot to dance in our dance hall.) Occasionally, we move our dance to the first Saturday of the month to avoid a scheduling conflict. Check out our calendar for up-to-date information.

Most of the time, we dance at the  Milwaukie Grange, 12015 SE 22nd Ave., Milwaukie, Oregon 97222. The grange is located 15-20 minutes south of downtown Portland. It is accessible by public transportation (

We alternate Mainstream and Plus tips from 7:30-9:30 pm. (We do not include round dancing at our monthly dances; we are purely a square dance club.)

On most of our dance dates, our affiliated club, Heads to the Center, dances the Advanced level from 5:00-6:30 pm. We may then have a potluck dinner before the dancing resumes at 7:30.

Unlike some clubs, we do not have a designated club caller. Rather, we invite the top local and national callers to call at our monthly dances, giving our members and guests a top-notch dance experience and helping make us better dancers. All of our callers are comfortable calling in an LGBTQ dance environment, so it doesn’t faze them to see gender roles reversed, or to see two people of the same gender dancing together.

Here is our upcoming schedule of callers:

September 8: Janienne Alexander. $7 member, $10 nonmember. Potluck at 6:30.
October 13: Richard Lane. $7 member, $10 nonmember.
November 10: Ian Craig. $7 member, $10 nonmember.
December 8: Diana Wedel. $9 member, $10 nonmember. Potluck at 6:30.
